By Luis Ureta, CEO, Sportian.

Somewhere in a hotel meeting room, a few hours before kickoff at the biggest football tournament in history, an analyst is reviewing the pressing triggers of their next opponent. A fitness coach is checking the workload curves from the last match, deciding who needs to be managed. A head coach is watching a playlist of exactly the kind of defensive transitions they expect to face; each clip tagged, timestamped and annotated.
All of them are looking the same product: Sportian Performance.
This World Cup marks the first time our sports intelligence platform has been deployed by national federations, presenting a new and exciting challenge for our team. Forty-eight teams. Three host nations. Billions of people watching. Hundreds of coaches and analysts who need the right information, fast, every single day.
I want to tell you a little about what we actually do for them.
Before a ball is kicked
In the weeks before the tournament, every client federation has been receiving detailed analysis of their own recent performances alongside comprehensive breakdowns of every group-stage opponent, based on their most recent matches.
The kind of preparation that used to take days of manual video work is now delivered through Performance Portal, with fully customizable dashboards match, team and individual player metrics.
The questions being asked are specific and tactical. Where does this team press? What do they do when they lose possession in the final third? Which combinations in their midfield create the most danger?
Our analysts work alongside federation staff to answer them, not just with numbers but with visual data backed by the exact video moments that generated them, so that nothing requires anyone to take an interpretation on faith.
In those training sessions before the first group game, the data we help surface becomes the tactical plan. That is a responsibility we do not take lightly.
One room, one truth
Something I believe in deeply is that information siloed in different departments is information wasted. At a World Cup, where the margin between winning and elimination can be a single decision in extra time, that cost is too high.
Sportian Performance is built as a shared working environment. Each federation has around five to ten key users: head coach, assistant coaches, data analysts, physios. All operate within the same platform, seeing the same information in real time. The fitness coach tracking physical load and the tactical analyst reviewing pressing patterns are not working in parallel and hoping to align later. They are in the same room, looking at the same data, building on each other's thinking.
What is happening in the background
The clean dashboard a coach sees on their tablet represents a significant amount of technical work running continuously underneath it.
Sportian Performance processes over 3.5 million data points per match. We consolidate eventing feeds capturing thousands of on-ball events per match, optical tracking data generating positional information across every player on the pitch, frame by frame, with full tactical video footage synchronized to both.
These streams must be validated, reconciled across sources and delivered through our different modules with the reliability and latency that live use at this level demands. That’s why the orchestration layer coordinating these processes draws on AI to monitor data quality, flag anomalies and act before anyone has to ask.
Across concurrent matches and multiple federations, managing that infrastructure cleanly is complex. Our products team is embedded at the venues. Our customer enablement team is remotely based across multiple countries and timezones, analysing data quality from every match in real time. A dedicated support line is open at all hours. We are not in the background hoping things run smoothly. We are actively watching.
Ninety minutes on a tablet
On matchday, our LivePro module will be in use on the touchline and in the stands, giving coaching staff access to up to 300 live player and team metrics as they evolve across the game. Coaching staff receive AI-driven alerts customized around the thresholds that matter most to them; for example sprint intensities, physical load accumulation, fatigue signals, tactical shape and pressing efficiency.
A substitution at the right moment can change a World Cup match. The confidence to make it - and make it at the right time - comes from having a clear picture of what is actually happening on the pitch, not just a gut feeling. That is what LivePro is for.
After the final whistle
There is a window after every match that most people outside the game never think about. The players go to the dressing room. The coaches follow. During this time, a comprehensive match report has already landed with thousands of metrics, physical and tactical and technical, each one linked directly to the corresponding video clip.
The night after a match, with three days until the next one, this is where the preparation cycle starts again. Our Desktop module lets analysts build bespoke training materials, filtering video by event type, building playlists of specific defensive sequences, annotating with telestration tools. Our Analysis module lets anyone on the technical staff explore heatmaps, passing networks and positional data from any phase of play, with the video always a click away. By morning, the next opponent's dossier is already taking shape.
What this means for us
Sportian was built from football. Our roots are in LALIGA and Globant, two organizations that understand elite sport and the technology needed to support it.
To be supporting national federations at the biggest World Cup in history, with dozens of specialized analysts working across Europe and the Americas to provide 24/7 coverage, is a privilege that deepens our excitement for the upcoming summer of football.
Winning at this level is a collective effort from players, coaches, medical staff and analysts. Technology, when it works well, should make that collaboration faster and clearer. That is what we are here for.
The teams on the pitch will write the stories. We will make sure they have everything they need to write the best ones possible.
