Pro League using Sportian Performance to improve football coaching

As the Belgian Pro League enjoys an exciting start to the 2025-26 season, with standout European results, packed stadiums and record transfer incomes, a quiet revolution is unfolding behind the scenes. To support its growth on and off the pitch, the competition has rolled out Sportian Performance: the advanced analytics platform developed by Sportian, the sports division of Globant.

Based on the solution that has delivered sustained success in LALIGA, Sportian Performance provides Belgian clubs with a new competitive edge, through its blend of match video, real-time data, and AI-powered insights.

Coaches, analysts, and medical teams across the Pro League are now able to track the most precise player and ball movements from all matches, leading to smarter tactical plans that deliver results on the field.

The platform has been fully operational in the Jupiler Pro League and Challenger Pro League since the beginning of the 2025-26 season. Through the help of SciSports, it will also analyze eventing and tracking data from across women’s football via the Lotto Super League and throughout youth categories from U13 upward, making Belgium the only country in Europe to centralize match data at every level of its football pyramid.

Sportian Performance is already generating over 2.7 million data points per matchday, including live match analysis, eventing, tactical dissection, player comparisons and analysis, offering unprecedented depth of insight for technical staff. The platform includes modules tailored for pre-match, post-match and live-match environments, all centralized on a single platform.

"This is a major leap forward for the Belgian Pro League," said Lorin Parys, CEO of the Belgian Pro League. “By adopting Sportian Performance, supported by Globant, we're ensuring every club has access to the very best tools to make smarter tactical, physical, and strategic decisions. This is about giving our clubs extra help and making our competition more compelling than ever."

AI Tools Deliver Real-Time Coaching Intelligence

A standout feature of the system is its use of AI to rapidly analyze match footage and physical data, helping coaches make more decisive changes. Physical staff can monitor player stress and fatigue levels using real-time alerts, helping prevent injuries and maximize player availability. The platform ingests data from multiple video sources and delivers it through modular interfaces to relevant coaching teams, enabling fast drill-down into video clips, tactical metrics, sprint and deceleration loads, all within seconds of the action occurring on the pitch.

“Sportian Performance has been an asset to world-leading coaches for over a decade and we are delighted to see its rollout across Belgian football," said Luis Ureta, CEO at Sportian, the sports division of Globant. “It is a source of pride that a product born in LALIGA is expanding to other competitions through Globant and Sportian, leveraging live match data to enhance sporting performance and deliver new forms of real-time entertainment for fans.”

A Proven Platform Born from LALIGA, Now Serving Global Leagues

In LALIGA, Sportian Performance is used by more than 17 staff per club, including coaches, analysts, physios, and scouts. Since the platform was introduced, Spanish football has enjoyed a remarkable spell of sporting success, including:

16 major European trophies won by Spanish clubs, and over 30 semi-finals reached - outperforming wealthier rivals across Europe.

Improved competitive balance: since 2011, the points gap between top and bottom clubs has dropped by 10 points, and the gap between league positions has halved (from 10 to 5 points).

“What we saw in Spain is what we believe can happen in Belgium," said Ricardo Resta, Head of Football Intelligence and Performance at LALIGA. “By democratizing access to advanced tools and standardizing the data infrastructure, Performance helps clubs of all sizes compete at the highest level."
